It's October and fall is finally here and I'm no doubt watching football and gorging myself on candy corn. And in the midst of all that good living, here, here are some new comics and collections for you, because I am so full of love. And high-fructose corn syrup.
I'm contributing a MIRACLEMAN story to one of those big celebratory anniversary specials. A story that pays homage to the character's history and to the power of creation itself. I first discovered Miracleman in the Eclipse Comics days and was blown away by it, like I was by everything Alan Moore was writing back then. I went back and bought most of the old Warrior magazine issues, and I've still got the Miracleman #1 poster by Garry Leach that hung on my wall when I was 13. So contributing this story will be a real joy for that kid.
Elsewhere in October, you'll find more time-traveling good times in AVENGERS and another character-driven focus on one of the Pillars over in AVENGERS FOREVER. These two series inch ever closer to their ultimate collision point. Look for more info on that very soon.
And PUNISHER gets its first collection, Book One of the "King of Killers" storyline that's been exploring Frank Castle's tragic past and ever-darkening future, as he does whatever it takes to end his war once and for all. I'm really happy to see people responding to this series. This is a book I'm particularly proud of, in all the ways, and one that I hope will ultimately stand alongside some of the meatiest, most fully-realized, most enduring stories I've been a part of at Marvel. It's also a book that speaks to where much of my most immediate future ambitions lie, tone and story-telling wise. But more on that another time.
